In 1987 he discovered the Haçienda club in Manchester and met Mike Pickering the resident DJ. Chicago House and Detroit Techno became very popular, and Garnier started mixing at the Haçienda club under the name of DJ Pedro. Garnier becomes one of the first Europeans to begin mixing American house music in Britain, Garnier was one of the prime cogs in the late-1980s Madchester scene. His DJing at Manchester’s Haçienda club provided an inspiration for The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays to begin adding house rhythms to rock music.

In 1988 he went back to France to fulfill his military obligations. He also spent some time in New York where he meets Frankie Knuckles. Garnier shifted his attention back to France in the early 1990s, running the Wake Up club in Paris for three years, also mixing in clubs like le Palace or le Boy, DJing in rave parties and gradually moving into recording as well. For the FNAC label, Garnier released “French Connection” and the Bout de Souffle EP; after the label went under, though, he formed the F Communications label with Eric Morand (a friend who had also worked for FNAC). Link to Ultra Cool Site

In addition to Europe, Digweed has had a tremendous career in North America. Digweed, along with Sasha, established a monthly residency at the now defunct New York club Twilo, a legendary residency that established itself at the forefront of progressive trance and house music into the American mainstream. Digweed underwent a six week country-wide tour of the United States in 2002 called Delta Heavy, with Sasha and Jimmy Van M. Promotion of the tour was done by Clear Channel and attendance reached 85,000. The tour took place in a variety of venues but was completely self reliant from a technical point of view. Sound, lights as well as visual needs were all brought along. Visuals were provided by Vj DeKam, who just like Digweed also toured with the Area2 festival. Also in 2002, Digweed created the soundtrack to the film Stark Raving Mad.

January 1, 1967 in Hastings, England) is a British DJ and record producer. He began DJing at around age 13. His first breakthrough was getting a gig at the club Renaissance in Mansfield after fellow DJ Alexander Coe (aka Sasha) heard his demo.

John Digweed, along with Sasha, as Sasha and Digweed, is known for promoting a progressive trance/house sound that became popular in Europe and North America in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Digweed is noted for adopting new styles which later become the mainstream[citation needed]; compilations mixed by Digweed are often filled with tracks unavailable elsewhere that then go on to be anthems during the next year. Along with Nick Muir, Digweed produces under the alias Bedrock, whose singles chart record is shown below. Digweed also started the record label Bedrock Records.

Digweed has a weekly radio show on Kiss 100 in the UK since September 2000, where he provides a one hour dj set, followed by a one hour set from a guest DJ. Since September 2006, John Digweeds show has been available on all 3 Kiss radio stations. The show is now called Transitions and has become syndicated and is played in 11 different countries.

In 1987, Oakenfold spent several months in Ibiza, Spain, where he fell in love with the dance club music (see 1987 in music). Using influences from Ibiza’s sound, Italo disco, soul and house, Oakenfold produced Happy Mondays’ Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches, followed by productions of remixes for U2, Massive Attack, Arrested Development, The Cure, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Simply Red, New Order and The Shamen with production partner Steve Osborne under the collaborative name ‘Perfecto’. Many of these remixes were released under his label Perfecto Records.

He first started playing in clubs as a teenager and soon built up a reputation as a top party DJ. However, it wasn’t until the early 1990s when his name was associated with the DJ elite. The reason for this rise in public admiration was his adoption of a new breed of dance music called Trance, something he discovered on the beaches of Goa in India and fused with similar sounding European records to create his own distinct sound. He took this to the mainstream when in 1994 he created a two-hour set for BBC Radio 1′s Essential Mix. This set became known as the Goa Mix and to this day is the most requested broadcast on the BBC radio network.

In 1996, Oakenfold mixed one disc of the double album Fantazia House Collection 6, a UK House music compilation series that had been massively successful at the time. He brought his distinctive style to the mix.

After a short spell as a member of the band Grace, Oakenfold became Cream’s resident DJ from 1997 to 1999. During this time, he began to concentrate on the release of Tranceport in 1998. Oakenfold followed Tranceport with arguably his most successful album Perfecto Presents Another World which introduced millions to his mixing skills. His popularity across the Atlantic is slowly growing thanks to his work on the film soundtracks of Swordfish, The Matrix Reloaded, Collateral, Herbie Rides Again, Die Another Day, for which he remixed The James Bond Theme. He later worked on the James Bond video game, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, contributed to the soundtrack of the Japanese anime film “Appleseed” in 2004 and provided the theme song for the FIFA series of video games since 2005. He also contributes music to Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution series of video games, particularly the versions for Microsoft’s Xbox console.

Ferry Corsten started to work as a musician in 1991, producing underground hardcore Gabber tracks, later expanding into club-house and trance music.[citation needed] In 1999 he produced Out of the Blue (under the alias System F), a melodic tune that became a hit on dance floors all over the world.[citation needed] His growing popularity in the late ’90s led to cooperation with many famous trance DJs and musicians like DJ Tiesto (Gouryella, Vimana), Vincent de Moor (Veracocha), and Robert Smit (Starparty). In 1999 Ferry was elected as producer of the year at the Ericsson Muzik Award in London. In 2000 he was awarded best remix for Barber’s Adagio For Strings (William Ørbit) at the Dancestar 2000 awards.

In 1997 Ferry and Robert Smit established the famous Tsunami Records dance label together with the German dance company Purple Eye Entertainment. Ferry also participated in compiling and mixing the Trance Nation trance series together with Ministry of Sound, which has sold over a million copies worldwide.[citation needed]

Ferry has contributed to remix projects of tracks by Japanese superstar Ayumi Hamasaki. He went on to compose and arrange her heavily trance-based song Connected, which was released, with remixes, as a German single.

Recently, Ferry Corsten founded a new record label, Flashover Recordings. His song Fire was nominated in the best trance video category for the 2006 Trance Awards. Ferry Corsten made his Second Life debut on February 27th 2007 performing at the Grand Opening of club Glam Scum on Skyros Island, Second Life.

On April 18th 2007 Ferry Corsten was featured in a global satellite radio first when Houston Texas takes center stage. Ferry Corsten live in over 130 countries on WorldSpace Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio, AOL and Direct TV when dance music channel The System broadcast live from Houston’s premiere dance club Rich’s to broadcast DJ Zoltar’s Subterranean with an exclusive performance/dance sets by world famous DJ Ferry Corsten live on WorldSpace Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio. On July 4th, 2007, Corsten debuted his new weekly radio show titled “Corsten’s Countdown” which counts down a list of the highest voted trance tracks.

In October of 1999 Ferry Corsten has been elected as ‘Producer of the Year’ during the Ericsson Muzik award in London, leaving fellow-nominees like Puff Daddy and Rodney Jerkins behind. In Mai 2000 he was awarded ‘Best Remix’ for “Barber’s Adagio For Strings”‘ at the Dancestar 2000 awards. In Holland he received the prestigious ‘Silver Harp’ award due to his contributions to the Dutch dance music.

In February 1999 Ferry’s second solo project, system F, was released on the Tsunami imprint. The title ‘Out Of The Blue’ is a melodic and powerful twister and turned out to be one of the biggest trance track of 1999, achieved a top twenty position in the U.K. single chart and put Ferry on the world-wide dance map permanently. The follow up single “Cry” (produced together with Robert Smit) was again an UK top 20 single hit.

Other projects of Ferry Corsten are: ” I’m In Love” by Starparty (produced together with Robert Smit), “Carte Blanche” by Veracocha (produced together with Vincent de Moor) and in May 1999 the title “Gouryella” by the act Gouryella was released, an Artist-project Ferry produces together with the famous Dutch DJ Tiësto. The first single “Gouryella” entered the U.K. Singles Top 75 at #15 and achieved various hit positions throughout the world. The follow up single of “Gouryella”, entitled “Walhalla” entered the UK single chart at #27 and was successfully released world-wide aswell. In September 2000 the 3rd Gouryella single entitled “Tenshi” was released world-wide. Ferry also remixed William Orbit’s “Adagio for Strings” as well as “New Yearsday” for U2.

Deep Dish is a duo of DJ and house music producers consisting of Iranian-American members Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. Based in Washington, DC they are well known for providing house or dance remixes of tracks of famous stars such as Madonna, Cher and Gabrielle, and for their live DJing sets. They often collaborate with DC artist Richard Morel and produced a dance hit with his song “True (the Faggot is You)”. Their remixing abilities first came to attention with their seminal mix of De’Lacy “Hideaway”, a club classic in 1995. Earlier collaborations include “The Future of the Future (Stay Gold)” with British group Everything But the Girl, which appeared on Deep Dish’s artist album, Junk Science, which was released in 1998.

Deep Dish rose to prominence following the 1998 release of their debut album, Junk Science. The duo first met in DC and over the years have released a number of genre-defining mixed CDs.

Deep Dish have remixed tracks by artists such as Dido (“Thank You” and “Stoned”) and the collaboration between Timo Maas and Kelis (“Help Me”). The duo won a Grammy Award for their “Thank You” remix. Deep Dish have also collaborated with Danny Howells to remix the Eminem track “Without Me” (as a bootleg). In July 2005, their second artist album, George Is On, was released. It featured their Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart hit “Flashdance” (which features Anousheh Khalili), as well as a remake of the classic Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams”, for which Stevie Nicks provided new vocals. “Say Hello,” the second single released from the album, hit number one on the dance chart in September 2005, becoming their second dance chart-topper (their first being the collaboration with Everything But the Girl in 1998).

Deep Dish have appeared as the featured artist on the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix on several occasions. Their most recent appearances took place in 2006, on the 29th of July, when their set from Global Gathering 2006 was broadcast live on the show. Their June 2005 Essential Mix was one of the nominees for 2005 Essential Mix of the Year. Deep Dish is also well-known for their progressive house compilation albums in the famed Global Underground series. The latest Global Underground album, by Dubfire, was released in April of 2007.

Sasha (born Alexander Coe on 4 September 1969), is a Welsh DJ and record producer. Sasha began his career playing acid house dance music in the late 1980s, and became a central figure in the development and popularisation of electronic dance music. He partnered with fellow DJ John Digweed in 1993, touring internationally and producing a series of mixes (compilations of other artists work played in a continuous fashion).[2] Through their track selection and mixing techniques, Sasha and Digweed were instrumental in the evolution of progressive trance and house music.

Sasha has produced multiple UK-charting singles and has remixed tracks for artists such as Madonna and The Chemical Brothers. His remix of Felix da Housecat’s “Watching Cars Go By” earned him a 2004 Grammy nomination. Sasha’s remixing and production often combine electronic music genres, making it difficult for critics to pinpoint his musical style, including on his debut album of original work, Airdrawndagger.

After achieving success as a producer and DJ, Sasha worked with younger DJs and producers such as Brian Transeau and James Zabiela, influencing their musical styles and techniques. His use of live audio engineering equipment helped popularise technological innovations among DJs who formerly relied on records and turntables. Despite the changing trends in electronic dance music, Sasha continues to perform in large dance venues and is currently on an intercontinental tour of large European and United States venues.

Sasha, a musician in every sense of the word, may have fallen into that media led trap in the past, but now at 30 years young he forges ahead with projects that will finally allow people to understand who the man behind the myth really is.The best DJs know that Djing is first about being able to read people and then about being able to tap into that human experience and take it on a journey. Sasha has always been noted for being a master at this, and although his style is described as “Progressive Trance” with a good presence of House and break beat elements; his music has always reached beyond those record store titles, thus separating him from his contemporaries. Sasha creates and plays music that gives emotion a chance to speak. It is this universal appeal that he has tapped into that has established his strong fanbase around the globe.

This ability to capture sounds on a universal level was most recently called upon when he was asked to write all the music for Sony Playstation¹s biggest game release of 1999, “Wipeout 3″. Sasha wrote 5 original tracks to soundscape the game. “Wipeout 3″ won not only the best racing game award, but best game of the whole show.

His special touch has also recently been called upon by The Chemical Brothers, who singled him out as the only artist asked to remix a track (“Out Of Control”) from their new album. “I just dubbed it out to a style like I would play, the elements and sounds that the Chems used were so good that I didn’t want to change them at all”, Sasha reports on making the mix. Sasha’s resume of chart topping remixes also earned him a request from Madonna in 1998 when he was asked to remix “Ray Of Light” and “Substitute For Love/ Drowned World”.

Andre Tanneberger has been living in two worlds for quite some time. One is the world of electronic music, where he has created extraordinary, melodious club tracks and played countless DJ sets all over the globe. Worldwide fame came courtesy of numerous top ten hits such as “9 PM (Till I Come)”, “Don’t Stop”, “Killer”, “Let U Go” and “Ecstasy”. The other world is an atmospheric domain – smoother songs to lose yourself in, where you can begin to dream.at

The title of the new album shows that ATB has not broken completely with past conventions, but still has an eye on his past. Two songs on earlier albums were named “Trilogy”. The third version on the current album is not only the eponymous song, but also the concluding link of the chain. There is also a welcome return for a world famous international artist with whom Andre has collaborated in days gone by – the new song with Heather Nova turned out so well, that it has been chosen as the first single of the new album.

ATB also worked with Jennifer Karr, Jan Loechel, Jeppe Riddervold and Karen Ires on new album tracks. You can sense the creativity that has emerged from a concentrated phase in the studio. The many nights he spent with his team and best friend “Rhudee”, designated co-producer, proved truly inspiring. Andre points out: “We had so many songs left that we could have filled another album as well.” Having patently enjoyed his time in the studio, Andre is similarly looking forward to presenting the result to his fans. An eight gig Germany tour will be followed by shows in America, Asia, across Europe and Australia.

Born December 16th, 1971 in Eisenhuettenstadt, East Germany, Paul grew up in communist East Berlin. Prior to Germany’s reunification, he at least had an early window to the capitalist world via the cross-border airwaves.

“We were able to see Westside – TV and listen to western radio stations. We recorded the music and replayed it at our parties, because in the east we didn’t have something like a club culture. In those days I listened to the radio show of Monika Dietl. I was really captivated by the music of ‘The Smiths’ and ‘New Order’. It (the music) was very strong and emotional…

Then in 1989, as the wall finally came down, a broad Club culture sprung up throughout all of Berlin. “Mainly they played that hard Detroit – Techno. I liked this energetic spirit, but something was missing. I (was looking out) for something else.”

Tiesto’s career is punctuated by landmark achievements ‘ the first DJ in the world to sell out a solo stadium event for over 25,000 people, he scored a number one hit with his single Traffic, the first instrumental track to reach the top spot in his homeland of Holland in 23 years. His remix of Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan’s Silence was the first house track ever broadcast on daytime radio in North America, (it became an international dancefloor anthem and also spent eight weeks in the UK top 10 chart). He played live in front of billions of people during the Parade Of The Athletes at the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens. But despite his meteoric success, Tiesto remains grounded about his achievements and clearly loves making and playing music above the accolades it brings.
